Under Texas law, these conditions are eligible for a medical marijuana prescription:

Intractable epilepsy

A failure of adequate trials of two tolerated and used antiepileptic drugs to achieve sustained seizure freedom.

Multiple Sclerosis

A disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves.

Parkinson's Disease

A disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors.

ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)

Nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function.

Cancer

Any cancer diagnosis that results in expected death.

Autism

A complex developmental condition that involves persistent challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors.

Many Seizure Disorders

A transient occurrence of signs and/or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain.

Spasticity

A condition in which there is an abnormal increase in muscle tone or stiffness of muscle.

An incurable neurodegenerative disease

Any disease where neurodegneration occurs where there is no known cure.

PTSD

A disorder in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.

Additionally, Texas law allows a physician to certify patients for a medical marijuana prescription after diagnosing them with “other medical conditions of the same class”.
